Sweden, the country that gave the world the sugary pop of Abba and the flat pack furniture of Ikea now seems to be able to produce great , filthy guitar orientated rock bands such as Hathor. Perhaps theres a shed somewhere in Gothenburg knocking out garage punk bands by the dozen, as only a few weeks back I saw The Bones play in London and they blew me away. Hathor are very much in the same vein – a frenzy of anthemic , fuelled guitar filled rock`n`roll riffs played and delivered at break neck speeds. Its hard to find any weakness at all in the 13 tracks on this cd , and having played it repeatedly, I find myself a Hathor addict. Musically, its got a mid quick tempo reminiscent of old Necros and the like. The guitars are great, blistering hooks and choruses. With songs such as `Destroy` , `Raise The Dead` and `Kill yourself` , Hathor have you banging your head like a demented retard. For comparisons think The Supersuckers, Dwarves, New Bomb Turks and Zeke. Its 100 mph no nonsense rock , a tornado of nasty fucking angry rock more contagious than the scabs on a whores arse. Hathor kick the shit out of rock `n `roll and leave you begging for more. Abba can burn in hell and take their god awful bubblegum pop with them, Ive seen the future, and the future is Hathor
