I first heard Damage Case 3 or 4 years ago in my old drummer's living room. He showed me a little song called "Red Alert" off of their first album and I couldn't help but be amazed. Here was a band with the message and sensibilities of punk, mixed with the speed and technical riffs of a lot of metal. One of the few good memories I have of highschool was skipping class to go to the tech room and listen to Damage Case all afternoon.
So it was with great anticipation that I picked up their latest CD Tyranny off Punkcore Records, and let me tell you I wasn't disapointed. Blisteringly fast riffs supported by their singer KB, who reminds me a lot of Lee Ving of FEAR. Their entire band is fucking tight, and it shows on this album.
The album consists of 10 tracks, and they're all incredible, with blistering solos, backing vocals, chanting...what doesn't this album have?
Highlights of the album include the awesome chanting on the album's title track "Tyranny" as well as the unbelievable solo on the track "Blood Sell" and the change-of-pace on the ending track "Show you no Mercy" which had an awesome '77 feel to it.
If anyone you know ever talks down to a band as great as Damage Case, you have this reviewer's permission to immediately throw them to the ground and boot their face in while screaming "Show you no mercy at all!!!"
