NERO BURNS have been carving their
own particular niche for the last few
years, a niche that exists somewhere in
the twilight zone between garage punk
and psychobilly, yet still sound contempory with their use of programmed sounds. Comprising Nero on guitar/vocals, Honey on bass and Paco on drums/b.vocals, they kick up a storm on their debut CD, ‘Flame On!’ -from opener ‘Caffeine Shake’, with it’s squelching synths and pure r’n’r guitar, to the shimmering tremolo of ‘Voodootrashabilly...’ there’s no let up! Even when the pace slows to a graveyard shuffle on numbers such as ‘Move It On’ they retaintheir trademark blend of trash and twang.
They’ve shared stages with bands ranging from the Meteors to the Flaming Stars, and have played venues from an oriental supermarket in North London to the John Dee in Oslo; formerly London-based, this Anglo-American outfit now divides its time between Slovenia and the UK, and has recently played gigs in Croatia and Serbia. Big Cheese
called ‘Flame On!’ a “cracking little platter”, Razorcake magazine said that Nero Burns are “souped-up, swampy and propulsive”, Trollzine called their ‘Zombie Queen’ ep “3 tracks of laid back cool n scuzzy fucked up rock n roll that drips evil in every note”,
and long-running French fanzine Dig It! said “il a fumer nos haut-parleurs”!
