Band Bio

UK punk mobkings return with highly anticipated second album. Strawberry Blondes return with their second full length album ‘Fight Back’, set for an autumn 2009 release. While many bands fall victim to the dreaded ‘difficult second album’, Strawberry Blondes deliver a barrage of prime rabble rousing anthems, featuring guest appearances by The Briggs, Joey La Rocca and former Stubborn All-Stars front man and New York City ska legend King Django. ‘Fight Back’ show’s that Strawberry Blondes like in the case of The Clash and The Specials before them, have that knack of writing songs that perfectly capture the mood of the time. These are songs that express the anger and frustration of living in the bleak and decaying cities of Britain, in a way that is culturally positive and delivered with a passion and an indefinable feeling that’s difficult to fake. Strawberry Blondes are the new face of punk rock and have recently won over a ton of new friends playing with the likes of Rancid, Bad Brains, The Unseen, The Aggrolites, Anti-Flag, Millencolin, Westbound Train, Stiff Little Fingers, ANWL, UK Subs, The Vibrators, Jackson United, Left Alone and Time Again among others in support of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Rise Up’, as well appearances at NASS Festival, Wheelbite Festival and Rebellion Festival in Blackpool and Vienna. They even got the legendary Don Letts to remix one of their songs. Released May 2007 on Deck Cheese Records, and featuring Goldblade frontman John Robb, ‘Rise Up’ has seen an explosion in the profile of Strawberry Blondes, with constant Radio Play courtesy of Sex Pistols legend Steve Jones at Indie 103, Side One Dummy head honcho Joe Sibb at Complete Control Radio and the BBC’s Mike Davies on the Radio 1 Punk Show for whom they also recorded a blistering live session.

With ‘Rise Up’ gaining critical acclaim, Strawberry Blondes hit the road hard and honed their highly energetic live show touring the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Croatia, picking up the best new band award at the Big Cheese Magazine awards, along the way. March 2009 has seen the inclusion of ‘Rise Up’ the title track from their debut album, on the movie soundtrack to the film 'Green Street 2', ( Titled ‘Hooligans 2‘, in the U.S.). The sequel to 'Green Street' - The 2005 football hooligan movie starring Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam, Claire Forlani, and Marc Warren. Fired with the burning frustration of living on the wrong side of nu-millennium Britain, Strawberry Blondes reinvent the past and spit it into the future.
