Simplex was conceived in the summer of '95.

The band consisted of by ex-members of Box Car Wino, Landon Jackson (lead guitar, backing vocals), Rich Zaydel (bass, backing vocals) and Naughty Monkey members Brent Bowers (drums) and Brock Diamond (rythym guitar, lead vocals).

Simplex came about when the singer of Box Car Wino, Nolan Thomas, decided to branch out on his own to pursue opportunities in Los Angeles. Rich Zaydel and Landon Jackson were in search of a new singer. Sitting outside a rehearsal studio having a beer and other recreational substances, they heard their destiny.

Rich and Landon knocked on the door. When opened, there were Brock and Brent.

Brent was sitting on drums, eating M&Ms and chasing them down with a 40 ouncer. Brock with his Coke bottle thick glasses and guitar, tried to focus on who had just entered the room. But, what Brock lacked in eyesight, he more than made up for in his amazing song writing ability.

After a few practices, things started to come together effortlessly. Landon and Rich had played in several bands together through the years (GOFT, Box Car Wino, Harms Way) so Brocks songs now had a wall of raw energy backing them, a killer backbone of insane harmonies and leads. Brent "Brentmo" Bowers straight forward punk rock drumming kept the driving beat.

The songs here really can't do the band justice. This was an amazing live band. The songs were brilliantly simple, but live a moshpit would form at their shows and havoc and mayhem were gauranteed at the occasional "lets piss off the neighbors and see how many songs we can play before the cops come" backyard parties.

Simplex's sound is simple, yet unique. A punk rock nirvana of original music based on the formula less is more.

Their songs honed and refined in a studio that they shared with The Cadillac Tramps and Drive By Smile. Gabby, the singer from both legendary bands, helped produce the band once it was time to record.

Based in Costa Mesa, Califonia, Simplex is still spreading their disease from there today here and there.

Denying the majors, Simplex joined forces with a strong indie label Mohawk Records.
